wedding planning | pt. 2

Now that I am done with my first year of grad school (check out my most recent update here!), I am really starting to focus on wedding planning. Saying that I am excited is an understatement.

In the past few months, we hit some pretty big milestones and I am excited to share as we continue to take our steps towards our mr. & mrs. date!

We took our engagement photos (and have some to share!)

Last update I talked about picking a photographer and a location for the engagement photos. We ended up going to Joshua Tree to take our engagement photos and it was pure magic. It was a little windy that day, but it didn’t stop our photographer from getting some beautiful shots.

We definitely had magic hour on our side for these photos.

Joshua Tree holds such a special place in my heart. I grew up camping and rock climbing in Joshua Tree and it just felt like the perfect place to share our love with the world. You will see a lot more of those coming in the future updates!

I went dress shopping and said YES!

This was such an amazing experience. It was beyond overwhelming, but luckily, I had my mom and my best friends by my side. At first I was able to shop around and see what dresses were striking my fancy and then I tried on the dresses. We all ranked them and I ended up getting it down to two of my favorite ones. I didn’t think I was going to say YES TO THE DRESS, but I did and I could be more excited.

This was a perfect update to add because I just got the call that my dress is in and I can pick it up! I won’t have fittings until November, so for now I’m gonna get this booty in shape 😉

We had our food tasting!

Last month we went to our venue to do a food tasting, and I am SO excited about the food for our wedding. It was all so, so, so delicious. We tried appetizers and little bites, sides, salads, main dishes and desserts and oh my goodness was I full after. Food is such an important part of a wedding (in my eyes at least!) because food can really bring people together. Having such a wonderful tasting and experience just made it that much better.

We set appointments, more appointments and MORE APPOINTMENTS.

One thing I was never really ready for would definitely be the appointments you set and how quickly your calendar fills up with design appointments, rental showroom walk throughs, color scheming appointments, cake tastings, floral designs, interviews with DJ’s and bands, and the list goes on. Oh my goooodness. It can seem really overwhelming when you have two weeks booked full of appointments, but it also is really great to mark those off the list.

Meeting with the people whom are going to make your special day as perfect as your Pinterest boards is so key. Making sure to meet with multiple people for each aspects of your wedding, and not being afraid to ask questions, has been super helpful when picking vendors. If i could give a small little nugget of info to any future brides that are planning alongside me, it would be that.

There are so many little details when it comes to wedding planning that you just don’t think about. During the Summer months while I am off is the ideal timeline to really hash out the details of the wedding. I know I will have a lot more updates as we keep going (cake tastings have been BOOKED – yaaaas girl) that I will share with you. For now, you can find my first update on my wedding planning journey here!

Till next time <3
