Night Time Reset – Self Care Series

For me, it can be hard to identify when I need to take a second and slow down. With balancing all aspects of life from work and school, to family and friends, and all of the in between bits that make up our crazy, wonderful life, it can be tough to slow down and reset.

I am doing a bit of a night time reset, or routine, if you will. I wanted to talk about night routines again because for me, it is one of the most important part of resetting myself. For me it’s all about setting time for myself to wind down, but also to mentally and physically prepare myself for the next day. Giving yourself that time is so important.

Spending a little extra time on myself at the end of the day is so rewarding and just feels so good. Not each night will be the same. Some nights I’ll set up a bath and focus on my skin care. Some nights I will spend extra time reading the books I have been dying to read. Other times, I really focus on my mental health by practicing meditation, yoga, or gratitude – sometimes all three. There are so many ways you can show yourself some love by giving yourself the time. And not just giving yourself the time, but really making the time for yourself and embracing that time.

Some of my favorite things for a deeper step into relaxation is to spend a little extra love on my skin. One of my newest additions to my skincare routine is to use a jade roller at the end of the night to help reduce puffiness and redness from the day. Jade rolling is also really great for the overall circulation in your skin. Now that I have been using it on a more regular basis, I have seen an overall change in my complexion as well. If you are wanting to spend a little extra time and love, definitely try out jade rolling. You can find my favorite jade roller here!

Another one of my favorite things to do to while giving myself a little more “me time” is reading. I love reading. I am definitely a multi-book sort of gal. I read a lot for work and school, so reading for me is such a refresh and reset. If I am not in the mood to get into an actual book, I will pop on my headphones and open up Audible. Audible is definitely one of my favorite apps and it really does help me wind down. I know a lot of people have a hard time finding the extra time to read, but genuinely love reading, so Audible has been so wonderful. If you’re interested in Audible, and two free books, check it out here! It is a great way to wind down at the end of the day.

The last thing that I really love to do is meditate. Meditation is really new to me. I have “practiced” it very irregularly the past year or so. Recently, I started meditating daily and it really has helped with so many things. It helps with my night routine by giving me the outlet to decompress, waking up refreshed and with a positive and fresh outlook, and anytime during the day where I am feeling overwhelmed and stressed. By practicing it more regularly, I have found that I am not as stressed as I used to be and my overall mental, physical and emotional health has improved so much. I have been so obsessed with the app Headspace. I so highly recommend you try it out for yourself for an easy and meaningful guided meditation that can last for a few minutes, or hours.

Each night is definitely different. Some nights I go to bed stressed not practicing any of my favorite ways of decompressing and showing myself love and care, and I have to remind myself that that’s okay too. I think the most important thing that I take away from it is that I am learning, like everyone else.

Let me know how you show your self some self love during your night time routine.
